Thesis Statement
The North African Campaign was a key part of World War II because it was one of the first times the United States started fighting for the Allies, and it created another front that the Germans would need , to fight on which forced the Axis' reasources to be divided even more.
Significance of the North African Campaign
"The British correctly estimated the strategic situation in North Africa and followed a difficult, yet successful, strategy that diverted Axis resources from other fronts and set the stage for the Axis defeat in both North Africa and Europe." By forcing the Axis owers to split its reasources, the Allies can more easily defeat them. Without the North African Campaign, the war would have raged on for much longer, and therefore cost the U.S. and Britian many more casualties and much more money. The Axis reasources would not be divided, and Germany may have been able to take over all of Europe.
